Business Update

New Intuitive Website Launched

We have been aware for some time that our website may not have been as user friendly as it could be! So, many of you will be delighted to know that we have now launched a new comprehensive and informative website for engineers requiring details on load cells and associated instrumentation. The website at has been optimised to be extremely user-friendly. Navigation is now intuitive and users can quickly and easily find information on their specific industry solutions. Ever mindful of the increased use of tablets and mobile phones for surfing the internet "on the move", the site is also completely scaleable and can be viewed comfortably on all devices

We Welcome New Team Members

Welcome to Ray Leach who joins us as Production Manager. Ray has over 35 years experience in the load cell industry, 20 of which were spent managing production departments. Also, Helen Cornish who has taken up the position of Sales and Marketing Manager. Helen has 10 years experience of marketing load cell products to many different industries worldwide.

Another recent appointment to the engineering department is Matthew Reynolds, who has 7 years design engineering experience and expertise in the latest 3D design/modelling/FEA software. This capability has enabled us to produce smarter designs with more detail so that the designs can now be easily incorporated into customers larger system designs and specified at the early stages of projects.

New Test Machine Installed

1500 tonne calibration test machineIn exciting new developments here at LCM Systems, we are delighted to announce that we have recently installed a custom designed 1500 tonne calibration machine at our manufacturing facility in Newport. The addition of this machine to our calibration facilities means that all load cells, shackles and pins with capacities up to 1500 tonnes in compression, and 150 tonnes in tension, can be calibrated in-house. For customers, this means that prices can be reduced and faster delivery times for large capacity load cells guaranteed. Also, as many of LCM Systems load cells are used in safety critical applications, all calibrations are traceable to national standards and accurate to 0.1% of rated load.

New Wireless Shackles Coming!

Watch this space in our next newsletter for information on our new range of wireless shackle load cells. In response to requests from customers we have been developing this innovative new range of load cells. They are in the final stages of testing and will be launched soon.

What Type of Load Cell Do I Need?

We are aware there are so many different types of load cells that it can sometimes get very confusing. Here at LCM Systems, we have put together a simple guide to load cells, what they are and a summary of the different types available.

Application story

With our innovative in-house design team and an advanced UK manufacturing facility, we recently won a contract to supply a 2000te TCA tension and compression load cell to China-the largest in the company's history.

This impressive load cell was ordered by a leading supplier of weighing and process control equpment and has now been delivered and installed in one of China's materials testing Institutes. The load cell will be used as part of a certified test machine set up for analysing the tensile and compressive strength of a wide range of materials, including wire cables.

2000te Compression Load CellAt 860mm long and weighing 500kgs, this impressive load cell also benefits from being double bridged for both redundancy and the option of dual control and measurement.

The project went without any hitches and was delivered on time and within budget. LCM Systems' design team are now looking for their next "biggest" challenge. Do you have one?
