Load Measuring Pins for Deep-Sea Research in Australia 📰
3rd Sep 2026We have recently supplied these two 4000kg rated load measuring pins to a scientific and industrial research organisation in Tasmania. They will be installed on a new deep towed camera, capable of deployments to depths of more than 6000 metres to monitor and report on marine ecosystem biodiversity in deep sea locations around Australia and off the continental shelf.
The load measuring pins will continuously monitor the tension in the towing cable, helping to ensure that it remains within safe operational limits throughout each deployment. This provides essential load information while the camera system captures high-definition video and still images of the seabed. The load pins have been engineered to withstand the extreme pressures and harsh environmental conditions encountered at significant ocean depths and have been supplied with SubConn connectors and pressure tested to verify their suitability for long-term operation in deep-sea environments.
